Bournemouth commuters set for greener travel options

New cycle and pedestrian paths proposed THE installation of upgraded cycle and foot paths through Kings Park is set to get underway, thanks to a government grant. Starting in late July, the work will be funded through cash from the government’s Transforming Cities Fund (TCF) and will form part of an 8km ‘sustainable travel route’ between Bournemouth railway station and Jumpers Common in Christchurch. Councillor Mike Greene, transport portfolio holder for BCP Council, said: “Kings Park is an important location connecting Christchurch and Bournemouth.  These planned improvements will really open up sustainable travel as a viable, attractive, healthy and safe way to commute between these areas.  

Travellers set up unauthorised encampment in Poole stadium lorry park

TRAVELLERS have set up an unauthorised encampment at Poole stadium lorry park. Checks are now being carried out by BCP Council and proceedings will begin to evict them from the site. A spokesman for BCP Council said there are currently eight living units and associated vehicles and statutory assessments are under way. A large group of travellers took over part of the main car park at Sandbanks over the bank holiday weekend but were moved on. During the previous week there was an unauthorised camp on football pitches at the Littledown Centre in Bournemouth. Comments are closed on this article.
