Chester and Ellesmere Port: Two new centres offering free covid-19 test kits to open

TWO new community centres handing out free covid-19 test kits will open in Ellesmere Port and Chester next week. They will open on Tuesday, May 4, near Chester Retail Park and the other at Ellesmere Port Library. The community collect service offers free packs of covid-19 test kits for residents to do at home as part of the Government recommendation that we all test twice a week regardless of whether we have been vaccinated or not. One in three people with covid-19 do not show any symptoms so these twice-weekly tests, known as Lateral Flow Tests (LFTs) are aimed at people without symptoms, to help stop people from spreading it unwittingly.

Clockwise Chester: More major road closures to cause nine months of disruption

NINE months of further road closures are expected to cause significant disruption in Chester city centre from next month. Currently, the Clockwise Chester scheme has been able to see a new, large surface rainwater drain installed along St Martin s Way and Nicholas Street, with little disruption, largely thanks to the ongoing coronavirus restrictions limiting traffic, and also due to the implementation of a new one-way system for Chester s ring road. Large-scale drainage tunnel works on St Martin s Way. That has seen traffic go one way clockwise around Nicholas Street, St Martin s Way, Vicars Lane and Pepper Street, with St Oswald s Way unaffected and continuing to have traffic flow in both directions.
