JULIE Scott is in a class of her own when it comes to overcoming obstacles. So determined is she that this mother-of-three young children, newly separated, has won a top honour in interior decoration. Her work, produced on a course at Cricklade College, won a highly commended in a Medals of Excellence award, beating nine other entries. The inspiration behind her entry was Egypt, a country she is determined to visit. It is even more surprising that the detailed work she had to submit, including stencilling, is made more difficult because she only has partial sight in one eye. Two years ago, she was cutting back a conifer at her home at Little Park Farm when a branch sprung back and hit her in the eye.
