somebody like that? i do trust them customer no credibility. harris: congressman, thank you very much. good to see to see you. thank you, harris. harris: let s go deeper. tom depree who served as deputy attorney general under george w. bush, always good to have you on the program. i hope you re able to hear or watch my conversation just then with congressman selden pray they want to get your reaction to it. yes, absolutely. i think they made a very good point. to your question about how you cut a deal with the criminal lawyer, it s a fair point. if the idea is that at some point, someday, bob mueller might call michael cohen as a witness or rely on him for testimony or for building a case against the president, that some think he s going to have to deal with. this is a guy who you have indicted for making false statements to congress. at the same time, they are holding him up as a model of probity or somebody whose word can be taken at face value. i will say, this is very com
harris: i m going to have to get you a food tester. i m okay. harris: what if hillary clinton runs again? i think the president would have a very vigorous debate against hillary clinton. i think he would find that invigorating, as he will all these challenges. i don t think she would get the nomination. i can t see her getting it. harris: wow. i want to know the response. but i appreciate the honesty. we will be right back. we earned a lot of va benefits with our service. but the va home loan benefit is a big one. if you want to use it to get cash, call newday usa. va loans are all they do. and don t let less than perfect credit hold you back. even if you ve been turned down for a va loan by your bank, call newday usa. they ve been given automatic authority by the va. they can often help veterans when other lenders won t.
manafort is still doing his best to remain in the good graces of the president and the white house. no doubt, at least with an eye toward a possible pardon down the road. the thing that really jumped out at me from the news of element over the last few days is the fact that men afford steam has been keeping the president legam lived in. the question he s been asking him. and the evidence that mueller has disclosed to manafort in the course of his questioning manafort. that to me says it s very important from paul manafort s perspective to maintain a good relationship with this president, with the white house, and the only explanation i can find for what is a very unusual development is that he wants to at least keep the possibility of a pardon in play. harris: tom, is the world just filled with liars when they talk to the fbi? why does the constant string seemed to be dishonesty? that s not even really evidence, by the way. it s not like they went to crime scene and captured some evi
that timeline? the answer certainly is, right now, michael cohen may have his own reason for not having having changed his answers. michael cohen is responsible for his own testimony. who knows what that might be? harris: what should the president do at this point? listen to his legal counsel. harris: comment or not comment on it? i think he s always inclined to defend himself personally come he s so forthright that it s hard to imagine. because he s an intelligent man. it s hard to imagine that he would make public statements that he couldn t somehow legally validate. in the setting of the investigation. harris: and the total picture, and i ve seen this within each person we talk about paul manafort these people had a role in the president s life. so much of what s been looked at happens before the campaign.
for there to be an investigation like this throughout the entire time that president trump is in office. i come as a member of congress, i m serving this is the end of my fourth year, now. i m not aware of any evidence whatsoever that the president had colluded with the russians. until we come in contact with any information whatsoever, the justification for not only continuing this investigation but also expanding the probe, what we are seeing well beyond and why it was created in the first place, we have a lot of members of congress who have a problem with that, too. harris: michael cohen were you surprised at all about the entry of a guilty plea, if you will come of that he put in this morning? lying to congress? what strikes me is that his star witness has now admitted to being a liar criminally. i m a former prosecutor. looking for facts and elements of a crime, i see so much of that missing about what gets alleged, may be, in the news.
