Cajun food was out and so was quiche.
Mushrooms were all the rage as were salads made with greens other than iceberg lettuce. Asian-style cooking and “home-style” dishes were also popular.
Below the article there was something else, a story about a new product, one of the great “food fads” of the 1980s, which was about to hit Central New York grocery shelves and was one that had already started getting a great deal of attention.
Jolt Cola had been developed by a father and son team in Rochester and, by the end of April 1986, it was already having an impact in the city’s soda market. Syracuse was chosen to be its next market.
