Alliance Francaise Bangkok will make this Saturday a wonderful break for children and families by presenting two kids movies at 2pm and 4.30pm.
The first is Fahim, The Little Chess Prince, a family comedy drama directed by Pierre François-Martin Laval. It centres around an eight-year-old chess prodigy who arrives in Paris with his father after being forced to flee his native Bangladesh.
Refused asylum as illegal immigrants, they spiral downwards into homelessness and desperation. By a stroke of luck, the boy is introduced to one of France s top chess coaches, Sylvain, who tutors him and gives him a sense of purpose. His struggles on the chessboard mirror both his victories and his crushing defeats in his battle for a normal life.
