Celebrating differences: YMC observes cultural fest

Dimapur, Nov. 7 (EMN): Yemhi Memorial College (YMC) observed its first annual ‘Cultural and Literary Fest’ on November 5 at the college premises. President, Naga Council Dimapur, E Kikon and chairperson, YMC governing body, Piholi, as the special guests of the inaugural and closing functions respectively, YMC informed in an update. Speaking on the theme, ‘Share our similarities, celebrate our differences’, the Naga Council president encouraged the students to practice, preserve and nourish the “assets” given to them by their ancestors.  Kikon urged the students to evolve with the time but also to be always rooted in their culture. He advised the students to explore the many avenues and options provided to them and not to limit themselves to government jobs. Students should not only nourish themselves with knowledge but should also polish their attitudes and personalities, he said. Image Source: IANS News Bengaluru, April 19 : Doyen of Kannada language and lexicographer, Ganjam Venkatasubbiah, popularly known as GV, passed away in the wee hours of Monday morning due to age- related ailments, a close family member said this here. GV was 107 year old and he was suffering from renal problems for the past few days and was admitted to a hospital for treatment. He was due for discharge on Monday but suddenly his condition worsened on Sunday night and he succumbed, family members said.
