For the 10th time, members of Texas Exes’ Hispanic Alumni Network gathered for Fiesta, the group’s biggest fundraising event of the year. And it was a special one.

Austin Energy is seeking donations from customers for its Utilities’ Customer Assistance Program, which helps customers who are unable to pay their utility bills due to unexpected emergencies.
This year, additional utility relief funding, approved by the Austin City Council in April, was available to individuals affected by COVID-19. In fiscal year 2020, the program distributed $7.4 million in utility bill assistance to more than 14,000 households.
Austin Utilities customers can make a one-time or recurring donation by adding it to their paper or online utility bill or by mail.

The Austin Public Works Urban Trail Program and the Capital Area Metropolitan Planning Organization have released a study on the Bergstrom Spur Corridor, an abandoned railroad that once served the former Bergstrom Airforce Base.
Austin Community Foundation opens Women s Fund grant applications
Austin Community Foundation has opened grant applications for its Women s Fund. The fund is expected to award 20 grants that will total $400,000 to local nonprofit organizations that serve women in areas such as providing affordable housing, increasing access to child care, supporting education, reducing health disparities in women of color or preventing unintended pregnancy.
The application for the grants is online at Austin Community Foundation s website and due by Jan. 28.
Austin Community Foundation s Women s Fund began in 2004 and has donated funds to more than 60 nonprofits. This year grants went to organizations like SAFE Alliance, Planned Parenthood of Greater Texas, Foundation Communities, Todos Juntos Learning Center and Mariposa Family Learning Center.
