Lismore Choir kicked off a mini-tour of East Cork and West Waterford, in a triumphant return to Saint George’s Theatre and Arts Centre in Mitchelstown.

Subscriber only A man accused of causing significant damage to a Lismore Cathedral will soon apply for bail Stephen Anthony Luke, 46, is accused of carrying out a week-long crime spree across NSW in September, which involved allegedly setting fire to two churches and stealing money and cars from victims. Mr Luke, who was mentioned without appearance at Lismore Local Court on Wednesday, was approved for a bail application date of April 28. According to court documents tendered to Lismore Local Court, Mr Luke allegedly travelled to Lismore, where he set fire to St Carthage s Cathedral on September 18, 2020. Multiple fire crews were called to the cathedral and managed to extinguish the blaze.

Subscriber only Two trucks from Fire and Rescue attended a fire alarm at St Carthages Catholic Cathedral in Lismore tonight. A spokesman for Fire and Rescue NSW confirmed the call was issued at 19.50pm on Thursday. The alarm was activated, it s believed, by a candle, he said, There was no fire to extinguish by our teams, and the issue is now resolved. It was an exceptional start to Easter celebrations, after Holy Thursday mass was conducted by Bishop Gregory Homeming from 7pm. Bishop Homeming will also preside over masses for Good Friday at 3pm, Easter Vigil on Saturday at 7pm and Easter Sunday at 9am, all from St Carthage s Cathedral Lismore.
