Hogan was originally charged with first degree murder, but i spoke with an assisant county attorney today who told me he accepted a plea deal for Second Degree murdern hogan admitted to assaulting and stabbing gaffney. Her body was found in rural linn county, back in 2014 now before hogan was arrested he sparked an amber alert accused of taking gaffneys three children, one of whom was his own. Hogan was arrested a few days later at University Avenue studios in waterloo. He was then charged with first degree murder in her death. You may remember, all of this happened in a span of just days in july of 2014.
