Downriver nonprofit MiMi’s Mission travels across Metro Detroit to help police and fire departments better respond to emergencies involving someone with autism.
Mimi's Mission is providing yard signs for families with a child with autism which will let neighbors know that someone with autism lives there. Noise-canceling headphones are also available.
A Metro Detroit program, 911Ready, is designed to help first responders prepare for calls involving people with autism before they respond. Brownstown Township and Allen Park police are participating.
