PLAINFIELD - A man was fatally struck by an NJ Transit train Saturday evening while walking near the Plainfield Train Station.
About 6:40 p.m. Saturday Raritan Valley Line train 5530, which had left the Raritan Station at 6:14 p.m. and was scheduled to arrive in Cranford at 6:54 p.m. struck and fatally injured the pedestrian near the Plainfield Train Station, according to Lisa Torbic, NJ Transit senior public information officer.
The man s identification remains under investigation, Torbic said.
About 30 customers were on board the train, but no injuries were reported.
