Doha: Sidra Medicine has established Qatar’s first paediatric focused Movement Disorders Clinic.
The clinic helps address problems such as spasticity (uncontrollable muscle stiffness) and dystonia (involuntary, abnormal jerking or twisting movements) in children and young people who have not responded to medications and therapy and who may benefit from state-of-the-art surgical interventions available at Sidra Medicine.
The Movement Disorders Clinic is staffed by a team of specialists from rehabilitation medicine, physical and occupational therapy, neurology, and neurosurgery. The most common diagnosis seen at the clinic are children with Cerebral Palsy, a brain disorder that interferes with the way that the brain communicates with the body and causes difficulty with movement.

âStockings of Joyâ is an annual outreach event for Elder Orphan Care, a local nonprofit that ministers to the needs of the older adults in various ways throughout the year.
At Christmas, they provide a meal and gifts for their clients as an added bit of joy.
EOC also provides âStockings of Joyâ to all Meals on Wheels recipients in Rowan County each Christmas.
This marks the fifth year that EOC has ministered in both Cabarrus and Rowan counties. But reaching out to the elderly is not a new program. EOC began ministering to the elderly in Romania in 2011. They have taken teams of volunteers to Romania each year since then. Because of COVID they were not able to make the journey this year. However, thanks to gracious donors, more than 500 precious older adults in Romania will still receive their âStocking of Joyâ filled with fun and practical gifts very soon.
