View Comments UPDATE: On Wednesday, May 12, the CDC s advisory panel recommended the Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine for adolescents ages 12 to 15 years old. Less than a day after the Food and Drug Administration authorized emergency use for the Pfizer vaccine for 12- to 15-year-old adolescents, the Department of Public Health in Georgia began offering COVID vaccines for this age group.  “Today’s action allows for a younger population to be protected from COVID-19, bringing us closer to returning to a sense of normalcy and to ending the pandemic, Acting FDA Commissioner Janet Woodcock said on Monday.  While Georgia and Delaware began to vaccinate kids shortly after the FDA s announcement, most states, including Virginia, are waiting for the CDC s green light.
