The eagerly awaited trial of two men, accused of murdering Sean Luke when they were teenagers, is set to kick off later this month.
The judge-alone trial was initially carded to start before High Court Judge Lisa Ramsumair-Hinds last month, but was put off by pre-trial legal applications over the admissibility of statements the duo alleged made to police before being charged.

An attorney for one of the men, charged with murdering six-year-old Sean Luke when they were teenagers, has raised issues with his client being re-sampled for DNA this week.
Attorney Evans Welch, who is leading Richard Chatoo’s legal team, raised the issue as virtual pre-trial hearings of the case continued before Justice Lisa Ramsumair-Hinds yesterday.
Welch claimed that when he was contacted by prosecutor Sabrina Dougdeen-Jaglal about the re-sampling on Monday, he planned to visit his client to discuss the issue on Thursday as he believed that the swabs would be taken, next week.

A serious instance of prosecutorial misconduct was not enough to derail the trial of two men accused of the brutal murder of Sean Luke.
Delivering a 22-page decision yesterday afternoon, High Court Judge Lisa Ramsumair-Hinds dismissed an application for a permanent stay of the case, which was based on the fact that the assigned prosecutor had represented one of accused men briefly before joining the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP).
