The mum of murdered Ipswich man Joe Pooley has welcomed the decision to resume the inquest into her son's death following the sentencing of his killers.

Ms Nicholls said: While nothing can bring my son back, at the very least, his killers have finally faced justice for the crime they committed. Joe was a vulnerable young man who should have been afforded all the support the state could muster, but it is clear that this did not happen. To get to the bottom of what happened in the lead up to my son s murder, I believe an inquest must be held to identify if and where failings occurred.

A woman who had sex with a vulnerable man and encouraged two of her friends to murder him after she tried to ghost him has been jailed for life.
Becki West Davidson, 30, ignored messages and protestations of love from autistic Joe Pooley, 22, after they slept together, Ipswich Crown Court was told.
She became enraged and arranged a revenge attack on him after he reacted to her lack of replies by saying that he was surprised she did not live with her children.
Her friends Sean Palmer, 31, and Sebastian Smith, 35, attacked Mr Pooley before throwing him into the River Gipping in Ipswich, Suffolk where he drowned.
Sebastian Smith, of no fixed address, and Becki West-Davidson, 30, of Rope Walk, Ipswich, were also convicted of murder.
Earlier in a victim statement read to the court Mr Pooley s mother Samantha Nicholls described her 22-year-old son, who was autistic and had learning difficulties, as “vulnerable”.
Addressing his killers directly across the courtroom, she said they had robbed her of a future with her son.

And she told Palmer he was a “violent bully”.
She added: “You had choices that night and you made the wrong ones. You will have to live with the knowledge of what happened.”
