China’s top streaming platforms censored around six minutes of material from HBO Max’s “Friends: The Reunion” special on the day of its debut Thursday, deleting footage of artists like BTS previously deemed to have “insulted” China, gay fans, references to pee and a shot of Matt LeBlanc in his underwear, among other moments.
“Friends” has amassed a huge, devoted following in China over the years, and thousands of fans had expressed their excitement for the special across all local social media platforms ahead of its release.

âWasnât there a decision to lose this?â Schwimmer asked upon noticing the beam that once stood in the middle of Monica and Chandlerâs apartment. âIt got in the way,â he and Kudrow remembered.
Cox Had a Creative Way of Getting Her Lines Right
When LeBlanc walked onto the apartment set, he asked, âDoes Courteney still have her lines written on the table?â As he recalled, when he mentioned it to her during filming, she told him, âmind your business,â so he erased all the lines. A script was always being hidden in scenes, and âit was Courteneyâs,â LeBlanc confirmed. âI had so much of my dialogue in these apples,â Cox said.
