West Burlington class caps to remain unchanged
The Hawk Eye
WEST BURLINGTON The West Burlington School Board on Monday voted against Superintendent Lisa Beames recommendation to increase class size goal by one student per section for the next school year.
Class sizes go before the board each year for consideration. Last year, faced with some grades being at or exceeding the class cap, which would have prevented open enrollment in those grades from the 2020-21 school year, the board voted unanimously in favor of Beames recommendation for the same increase. That decision was not well received by many families in the district, board vice president Bruce Thuleen recalled of the community s reaction.
