Representative image MADURAI: The Madurai city police conducted a special drive against illegal liquor sales on Sunday and arrested 45 people. They seized 228 bottles of liquor. The drive was carried out based on information that liquor was being sold in secluded places before and after the opening and closure timing of Tasmac shops. The bottles were sold at exorbitant prices. The prohibition enforcement wing police registered six cases and arrested six people while the local stations registered the remaining 39 cases. Among local stations, Avaniyapuram police registered highest of five cases while Anna Nagar station registered four cases. Vilakkuthoon, Teppakulam, South Gate, Jaihindpuram, Sellur and K Pudur registered three cases each.
