While the historic success of Chandrayaan-3 is celebrated by Indians across the world, two untrumpeted engineering colleges in Kerala are basking in the glory of the key role played by some of their alumni in the crucial Moon mission.
Chants of 'Bharat Mata ki jai' rose as the giant screen on which the telemetry was being displayed showed that Vikram, with the Pragyaan rover in its belly, had landed safely and was apparently healthy for the next phase of the mission
Leading this Chandrayaan-3 mission was the main scientist, P. Veeramuthuvel, with Srikant serving as the mission director and Kalpana as the associate project director at ISRO. M. Sankaran served in the role of director, while S. Somanath held the position of chairman at ISRO. Among the team members was scientist Chayan Dutta from Assam. The mission targeted the Moon s South Pole, successfully achieving India s inaugural soft landing on the lunar surface.
