India reports 1,14,460 covid cases, lowest in 2 months; 2,677 deaths in 24 hours

New Delhi, June 6: India reported 1,14,460 fresh Covid-19 cases, the lowest single-day rise in infections in two months, taking the infection tally to 28,80,89,339, according to the Union Health Ministry data updated on Sunday.
The death toll from Covid-19 climbed to 3,46,759 with 2,677 new fatalities, while the number of active cases was recorded below 20 lakh for the sixth consecutive day, the data updated at 8 am showed.
The active case count has reduced to 14,77,799, which comprises 5.42% per cent of the total infections, the data showed.

Mucormycosis is often referred to as the ‘Black fungus’. This is a misnomer. Mucor is not a black fungus. Black fungus often called as Dematecious fungi, or pigmented fungi are a completely different family. Mucor does not belong to the black fungus family.
Bengaluru, June 5: Karnataka needs 75,063 Liposomal Amphotericin B vials for 1,493 patients suffering from mucormycosis ('black fungus'), while Union Minister for Chemicals and Fertilizers Sadananda Gowda has allocated only 22,460 vials to the state so far, including 9,750 vials on Friday.
The Delhi High Court on Tuesday asked the Centre to frame the policy on the distribution of the Liposomal Amphotericin B, a drug used in the treatment of black fungus.
