Tāhunanui man Alastair Cotterill has collected 70 bags of rubbish and debris from around the street and local beach reserve over a few days.
Dismayed by the state of his neighbourhood of 30 years, a Tāhunanui resident has taken out the trash to preserve jewel in the crown . Beginning just after Christmas and continuing throughout summer, Alastair Cotterill spent a number of days cleaning gutters of leaves and rubbish around Tāhunanui Beach Reserve and carpark, Muritai St and Tāhunanui Drive. He also cleared sand from footpaths at the Lions Playground which had built up, affecting access to parents with prams and wheelchair users.
