Itâs been a singular year for Ketchikan High School sports, with twists and turns and stops and starts resulting from the pandemic thatâs also affected many other aspects of life here in Ketchikan and beyond.
While weâre disappointed that many of the opportunities typically available to student athletes proved elusive during the 2020-21 school year, weâre thrilled that itâs concluding with some positives.
This past weekend, Kayhi participants in the Alaska state track and field meet at Dimond High School in Anchorage met with success.
Rachel Knight became Kayhiâs first track and field champion of the 2000s by winning the 400-meter dash in a personal-record time of 1:00.33. Ada Odden set a school record and personal record in the 300-meter hurdles, and posted a personal record time in the 100-meter-hurdles.
