The winter storm was less forgiving in roanoke. It dealt the southwest Virginia City a bitter blast of cold along with a blanket of snow. Strong storms hit central loiusiana leaving a trail of damage behind. They took down trees, ripped the roof off a a car wash. Local reporters say people were hurt, but we havent heard any reports of deaths. A breaking story youll only see here on wavytv 10. Many people woke up to snow covering their homes and vehicles. We saw a snow plow pushing the snow off the roads. Later in the afternoon we saw a man pushing the snow out of the parking lot in front of his business. As daylight came in we saw more and more vehicles on the road where we are at the intersetion of Jefferson Ave and main street. We also spoke to some drivers about how they prepared for the winter weather. Sot chanel smith, driver clip 59 29 26 we just try to be prepared and make sure we have things ready in the house. We have salt that we can deice our steps so that we dont have any hazards and we get hot chocolate and movies and relax. The key here is if you have to go out plan and allow extra time so you can drive slow and be careful. Everyone we talked to said this weather hasnt affected their plans.
