Cleephord Linecker Losse was sentenced to five years for making a 15-year-old work as a prostitute. He will serve it consecutively to a four-year sentence for exercising control on the movements of the other victim.

The comparison was important because, as Vanchestein said early on in his decision, the case essentially boiled down to Losse’s testimony against the two complainants.
For one of the women, being believed by a judge came as “a tremendous relief.”
“As soon as he said that (her testimony was credible and reliable), I knew (Losse) would be convicted,” she told the Montreal Gazette after the decision was delivered. Her name cannot be published due to a publication ban that protects her identity.
“For someone to believe me, that was just amazing. Finally, someone believed me.”

A woman who was about to testify against the man she alleges turned her into a prostitute could be heard hyperventilating in the corridor of the Montreal courthouse as she was about to appear before a judge on Monday.
