Sherwood, Rosie have a howling good time in Philbrick Park in Penfield

MPNnow We are definitely going back to Penfield! Thanks to a tip from one of Rosie’s fans, we discovered Penfield’s Channing H. Philbrick Park this week. It was so nice we’ll return to explore more of this town’s trails and there are many.  One of the town’s oldest parks, Philbrick Park just west of the intersection of Five Mile Line Road and Route 441 has two trails running through its 19 acres.  Rosie got pretty excited about all the anglers along the roaring waters of Irondequoit Creek, and who could blame her? That’s a sure sign of spring.

Healthy Walks brings community together in Savannah s trail networks

“Good morning, Armand Turner with Healthy Savannah… Today we are on the Truman Linear Park Trail. We did a little bit of exploring earlier, we’re probably over about two miles. It’s a little rainy today but not too bad…” For nearly a year, Turner has been leading Healthy Walks on trails throughout the Hostess City and sharing his weekly adventures on Facebook Live. Each Tuesday morning at 7:30 a.m. rain, shine, heat, or cold Turner and his team put in the miles one step at a time to encourage community members to get out walking. The next Healthy Walk is Tuesday, March 16, at 9 a.m. at the Oatland Island Wildlife Center. The public is invited and encouraged to attend.

At the last two Public Safety Commission meetings, the idea of establishing a multi-town trail safety group has been proposed to help address any issues that may arise.  “It was originally suggested by a few people over in Southington, but the idea is for a multi-town trail safety group, which would cover Southington, Cheshire, and Plainville,” explained Town Manager Sean Kimball. “It’s still very early in the process, but it’s something we’re definitely interested in.”
