Man arrested after infant Amber Alert faces robbery, child endangerment charges, cops say

Damion Payne, 27, was arrested after police issued the alert for the baby girl. He also faces a weapons possession charge, East Orange officials said. Additional details about the charges were not immediately available.
Payne and the baby were last seen about 12:45 p.m. on Lindsley Place, according to New Jersey State Police.
The infant was found unhurt about 3:30 p.m. and reunited with her mother, according to East Orange officials.
“Thank you to our officers in the (local police department), New Jersey State Police, the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office and surrounding law enforcement partners for their swift response and mutual cooperation in locating baby safe and sound and allowing us to reunite her with her mother,” East Orange Police Chief Phyllis Bindi said in an email.
Abducted infant found, man in custody after Amber Alert issued, police say

Authorities on Monday issued an Amber Alert for an infant who was abducted in East Orange.
Police were searching for Chinna Payne and a suspect identified as 27-year-old Damion Payne, according to the alert posted on the New Jersey State Police website.
Damion Payne was last seen driving a 2016 white Nissan Altima with a Virginia license plate of UPF6043, the alert said.
East Orange police were investigating a “confirmed child abduction” that occurred around 12:45 p.m. Monday on Lindsley Place in the city, according to the Amber Alert.
