The majority of Manitoba Housing units tested by CBC News this summer recorded heat that could put the health of some residents at risk, as a resident and a tenant advocate call on government to make it easier to install air conditioning in social housing.
The tenant-landlord co-operation program kicked into high gear when residents were displaced by the sale and ensuing closure of the Windsor Hotel. Advocates have been able to help secure alternative housing for those in need, but their work with the people displaced continues.
