The Downtown Henderson Partnership is adding a new public event during Handy Festival week this year: the Street Strut 5K on June 16.
“We decided this year we would mix things up and do a 5K at 6 p.m. on that Wednesday,” Lindsay Locasto, executive director of the DHP, said.
“We’ve had people from 100 miles away (sign up to) come race and stay for the festival,” said Locasto, who is herself a member of the Tri-state running community.

HENDERSON, Ky. Spring brings many welcome sights, and among them this year is the return of riverboats to Henderson. After more than a year without river cruises stopping in our city, our 2021 calendar is finalized with 20 riverboats stopping in Henderson beginning on April 22, said Abby Dixon, executive director of the Henderson Tourism Commission. Needless to say, this is huge for our local tourism industry and a great sign that we re headed in the right direction! she said.
Dixon said reopening the community to tourism, specifically the riverboats, is something we can all look forward to. At the beginning of riverboat season, we will see more than 100 people in our town shopping in our stores, eating in our restaurants . that s a direct impact.
