A power failure at the Akasia licencing centre has left scores of motorists unable to renew or apply for driver’s licences.

Akasia and surrounding areas, west of Pretoria, were dumped into darkness in the early hours of Monday morning.
“It is true that there is no power in our Akasia licensing centre. This has been due to cable theft that has occurred around 3am this morning.
