DMX, the legendary rapper known for his songs “Party Up (Up in Here),” “X Gon’ Give It to Ya” and many more, has died. He was 50.
DMX, whose real name is Earl Simmons, died Friday after six days in the hospital following a heart attack.
“We are deeply saddened to announce today that our loved one, DMX, birth name of Earl Simmons, passed away at 50-years-old at White Plains Hospital with his family by his side after being placed on life support for the past few days,” his family said in a statement. “Earl was a warrior who fought till the very end. Midwin Charles, a prominent defense attorney best known as a legal analyst for CNN and MSNBC, died Tuesday, her family announced. She was 47; no cause of death has been disclosed.
“It is with a profoundly heavy heart and the deepest sadness that we announce the untimely passing of our beloved Midwin Charles,” her family said in a statement posted to Charles’ Twitter account. “She was known to many as a legal commentator on television, but to us she was a devoted daughter, sister, aunt, niece and cousin. Our lives are forever changed and we will miss her for a lifetime.”
