Ontario Elders’ Council receives award for works February 24, 2021 228 views The Ministry of the Attorney Generals’ Elder’s Council has received the Gutherie Award recognizing exceptional access to justice champions. The council was created by Ontario’s Indigenous Justice Division (IJD) in 2016 and is made up of 12 elders from across Ontario First Nations including Janice Longboat of Six Nations. Longboat, 84, describes herself as a traditional herbalist from Six Nations, a healer and Elder that worked within a wholistic concept of healing.
