The USD 503 Board of Education Monday approved a plan for all middle school and high school students to move to remote learning to finish out the first semester following their return from winter break.
Students would return to classes Jan. 4 and the first semester ends Jan. 19.
Given the large number of coronavirus cases following each holiday, health officials expect the same after Christmas and New Yearâs Day.
USD 503 Superintendent Lori Ray said they need the remote days to stabilize their teacher and substitute pool.
âWith the number in quarantine it is not sustainable,â Ray said of the ability to teach classes.
