May 3, 2021 Kathleen “Katie” Wargo Sole passed away peacefully on April 29, 2021, at the Cedar Village Retirement Home in Mason, Ohio. She was born in Weirton, WV, on August 5, 1935, to Charles and Kathleen Wargo. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Charles Sole, who passed in 1974; and sisters, Myra and Charlotte; and brothers, Charles and Harry. Her son, Robert Sole; and daughters, Linda Myers and Diana Sole; and brother, Nick Wargo; and sister, Eileen Huffman; survive her along with grandchildren, Nathan Myers, Matt Myers, Ben Myers, Rachel Dunaway, Chris Shreve, Garrett Shreve and Hannah Shreve; and great-grandchildren, Cooper Myers and Hattie Myers and Caroline and Mason Myers.

Mount Calvary Church will celebrate paid-off mortgage this weekend

It’s not every day that a church makes an event out of burning important paperwork. But after 28 years of paying off its mortgage, Mount Calvary Evangelical Lutheran Church in Manheim Township has cause for celebration. The church will host a Mortgage Burning Celebration on Sunday morning for its congregation. “There is a quiet excitement as we reflect upon the commitment of past members who gave their time and money to build God’s house and look forward to the future,” says Nancy Marshall, event and board of education chair. The Rev. Christopher Seifferlein, pastor of the church, expresses admiration for parishioners who gave generously and rose to the challenge that predates his arrival at the church. For decades, in addition to their regular weekly offering, members used a special envelope to give monthly toward paying off the mortgage.

Crothersville FFA Toy and Food Drive sets record in 32nd year CROTHERSVILLE The 32nd annual Crothersville FFA Toy and Food Drive is one for the record books. The biggest difference this year was having to make up for the loss of nearly $4,000 since the 26th annual craft show was canceled in November due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
