Unveils a Sobering Foul Ball Injury Calendar That Graphically Depicts the Growing List of Cases Documenting Major League Baseball s Appalling Negligence
Brooklyn, NY (PRUnderground) January 26th, 2021
Life-long baseball fan and stadium safety advocate Jordan Skopp has a pressing question for Major League Baseball (MLB) Commissioner Rob Manford: Why does the U.S. continue to lag behind countries like Japan and South Korea when it comes to protecting fans from deadly foul balls? Those two countries have installed safety netting in their stadiums and have reduced serious foul ball injuries to nearly zero. By contrast, the United States has seen at least 39 children and a countless number of adults maimed by foul balls at Major and Minor League ballparks since 2008 alone.
Alexis Hoskey was 4 years old when a baseball fractured her skull.
It was a night like any other under the lights at Kauffman Stadium in Kansas City, Missouri, one of MLB’s most beautiful settings, in April 2011. Alexis’ father, Monte, had gotten tickets through work and the family decided to go see a game Alexis’ first.
There were others with them and the adults allowed Alexis and other children to sit together. It was $1 hotdog night at the ballpark and the hometown Royals were facing the Minnesota Twins. The first pitch was just after 7 p.m., so it was still light out.
