Laverendrye General Hospital Auxiliary seeking volunteers – Fort Frances Times

The first meeting in 2021 for the Laverendrye General Hospital Auxiliary was held on March 1 2021. Nine members and one guest attended virtually. President Linda Booth presided and the meeting was called to order at 1:00 pm. The Agenda, Minutes of the previous meeting, and Treasurer’s report were all accepted as distributed. CORRESPONDENCE: Multiple correspondence were dealt with. They included Riverside Newsletters, Christmas cards, Riverside annual report, cheque for shop purchases, Confirmation of membership to Volunteer Canada, invoices for purchases made and a Thank You card from Tayah Baduik for the bursary. NEW BUSINESS: Linda Booth welcomed new members Jan Beazley and Susan Seiders who are the new Shop Managers as well as Holly Angus the new Foundation Representative for the Auxiliary. These new members along with Brenda Cox the new Member at Large will be installed at a future date.

Bertha Mills Booth Center for Entrepreneurship Endowment receives $50,000 gift from Ferris estate

The Morehead State University Foundation has announced the Bertha Mills Booth Center for Entrepreneurship Endowment received a generous $50,000 gift from the estate of L. Joyce Booth Ferris (68, 70) and Richard “Dick” Ferris.   Joyce, a native of Beauty, Kentucky, in Martin County, graduated from Morehead State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in 1968 and went on to receive a master s degree in business education in 1970. She was one of seven children. Of the siblings, five received degrees from MSU. Joyce began her business career at the Inez Deposit Bank in Inez, Kentucky. She went on to teach business education at Lancaster High School and The Ohio State University for several years.
