Tennessee Valley Healthcare System Administers 10,000 COVID-19 Doses Wednesday, February 3, 2021 Within 28 days of offering the Moderna COVID-19 vaccine, the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs Tennessee Valley Healthcare System administered vaccine No. 10,000 on Wednesday. “I feel very well and haven’t had any problems with the vaccine,” Mr. King, 89, said. “I got it because it’s the thing to do. Other veterans should get their vaccine.” Vaccines are offered by appointment only to veterans who are enrolled in VA health care and are high-risk or aged 65 and above. Those interested in the vaccine, should use the VA’s “Keep Me Informed” tool. Once their priority group is reached, veterans will be contacted by TVHS to arrange appointments.
Chattanooga Hamilton County NAACP Branch To Hold 2nd Mayoral Candidate Forum Friday Thursday, February 4, 2021
The Chattanooga Hamilton County NAACP Branch will hold the second virtual mayoral candidate forum on Friday at 7 p.m. Local Branch President Ann Pierre said, “This is the second forum for mayoral candidates and we are excited to complete the field so the public will be better informed”.
The community is invited to post their questions for the candidates during the forum, some of which will be selected and answered after the prepared questions. The individual participants of the candidate forum for mayor are: Lon Cartwright, Russell Gilbert, Chris Long, George Love, Andrew McLaren and Elenora Woods.
Cleveland City Schools Receives TN Pathways Certifications Thursday, February 4, 2021 Director of Cleveland City Schools Dr. Russell Dyer announces Cleveland High School has received two new TN Pathway Certifications in our Career and Technical Education (CTE) programs of study. Officials said, The certification sets clear expectations for alignment, advisement and partnerships that define strong education-to-career pathways. Beyond establishing standards for program quality and design, the certification elevates and celebrates innovative and exemplary pathways in the state. Cleveland High Schools Automotive Maintenance and Light Repair and our Emergency Services programs of study were notified Jan. 29 as being recipients of the certifications. In 2019, Cleveland High School received three TN Pathway Certifications in Robotics, Diagnostic Medicine and Medical Therapeutics.
Grundy County Man Charged With 1st-Degree Murder In Death Of Man Whose Body Was Found On Road Thursday, February 4, 2021
Derrick Earl Anderson, 35, was charged Wednesday with one count of first-degree murder in the death of Scottie Dewayne Tate of Palmer.
A joint investigation by special agents with the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation and the Grundy County Sheriff’s Office resulted in the arrest of the Palmer man on the murder charge. On or around Nov. 11, 2020, the Grundy County Sheriff’s Office began investigating the disappearance of Scottie Dewayne Tate, 48. Investigators developed information that led to the discovery of his body on Anderson Road on Nov. 20.
