Ralph Gale Field outside of Lincoln Junior High School is getting a state-of-the-art makeover. The field that dates back to the early 70s will have new AstroTurf and a new scoreboard along with an updated pitching mound and a new walking track.
District 27 Superintendent Kent Froebe said he’s dreamed about having an updated field for some time.
“I’ve joked about wanting to turf the ball field, it was just never financially a possibility. Thanks to a grant, my wishful thinking is becoming a reality,” said Froebe.
Frobe said a new walking track will also be included in the update in order for the physical education students and the community to have a space to walk.
