Gastonia Man Faces Multiple Child Sex Offense Charges in Lincoln County

37-year-old Edgar Jonathan Hernandez Sanchez of North Poplar Street in Gastonia has been arrested by Lincoln County Sheriff’s Officers on charges of statutory sex offense, two counts of indecent liberties with a child, and one count each of sexual activity by a substitute parent, crimes against nature, statutory rape of a child less than 15 years old, sex offense with a child under 15, and felony child abuse with a sexual act. The alleged offenses date back to 2014.
In order to appreciate just how far an organization has come, itâs often useful to go back to its beginnings. Kathy Vinzant is known by many as the executive director of the United Way of Lincoln County. She retired from that position in March. Way back when the Lincoln County Coalition Against Child Abuse and the Child Advocacy Center were in their infancy, Vinzant was the director of those organizations. At the Annual Appreciation Luncheon for the coalition against child abuse and LCCAC held on Wednesday, Vinzant shared stories of how the organizations were formed.
It was back in 1991 that Ola Mae Foster and Melinda Houser recognized the need for a means to educate the public about child abuse prevention. The Lincoln County Coalition Against Child Abuse was established 1992 and ran by volunteer board. Vinzant was hired in 2002 and under her leadership the LCCAC was created in 2007. String Of Sex Offense Charges Lodged Against Man Arrested Over The Weekend

21-year-old Joshua Tyler Gray of Gastonia was arrested Saturday (May 1) by Lincoln County Sheriff’s Officers. He’s charged with felony counts of statutory rape indecent liberties with a child, second-degree kidnapping, and disseminating obscenities. Gray is also charged with two misdemeanor counts of disseminating material harmful to minors and one misdemeanor count of contributing to the delinquency of a minor.
On April 16, 2021 the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office received a report regarding obscene images and messages being sent to two minor children. As part of the investigation, both juvenile female victims were interviewed at the Lincoln County Child Advocacy Center. Lincolnton Teen Charged with Second-Degree Rape

19-year-old Benjamin Grant Cash of Oaklin Lane in Lincolnton was arrested yesterday (April 29) by Lincoln County Sheriff’s Officers for felony second-degree forcible rape.
Events leading to Cash’s arrest began on February 24 when the Sheriff’s Office took a report regarding a sexual assault involving a juvenile female that occurred between June 1 and August 1 of last year. The victim was known to the suspect. The victim disclosed that the incidents occurred during an interview at the Lincoln County Child Advocacy Center.
Following his arrest Thursday, Cash was placed in the Harven A. Crouse Detention Center under a $75,000 secured bond. He’ll appear in District Court on May 20.

Fair is charged with one felony count each of statutory rape of a child, statutory sex offense with a child and crime against nature, and is being held under a $770,000 bond at the Gaston County Jail, according to a news release.
Detectives with the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office say they received a report detailing the sexual assaults the occurred around July of 2020 on January 26th, 2021.
Detectives say the juvenile victim knew the suspect and disclosed the sexual assaults in an interview with the Lincoln County Child Advocacy Center.
