Hyundai revealed the Santa Cruz in production trim, with an exterior design that puts it at the top of the pickup truck field. The Korean automaker insists on calling the long-awaited pickup truck a Sport Adventure Vehicle, not to be confused with BMW’s Sports Activity Vehicle. The unibody trucklet shares its platform with the Tucson crossover, as well as its mechanical bits, including a choice of two engines: a 190-hp 2.5-liter direct-injected I4 or a 2.5-liter DI turbo I4 putting out 275-plus hp. The coming Hyundai Santa Cruz is not a pickup truck, even though it has pickup truck proportions and sports a pickup truck bed. Hyundai insists that you call it Sport Adventure Vehicle.
