coming tonight. um, before i introduce joseph mccartin, i d like to say a few words about what led to the collaboration between the two libraries on this event. some of them you may know that the southern labor archives which is part of southern collections and archives at georgia state university library houses the records of the professional air traffic controllers organization. dr. mccartin used the collection before the collection was processed and opened for research. peterson, who was the grants librarian, and i, began writing a grant in hope of getting portions of the records digitized. we contacted dr. mccartin to see if he would write a letter of recommendation. when i made this first contact, he told me that a book he d been working on would be published in the next year or so. cut to december of 2010. we received notification from the national historic publications and records commission that our grant proposal was accepted and that we would receive funding to dig
