Court jails man to six years for hacking wife over sex denial

The Lilongwe Chief Resident Magistrate’s Court on Monday, May 24, 2021 sentenced a man to 6 years in prison after he stabbed his wife for denying him sex on grounds that she had just given birth. The convict, Dzongwe Evance, was found guilty on Monday May 24 2021 on a charge of acts intended to cause grievous harm. The offence is contrary to Section 235 (a) of the Penal code. According to Lilongwe police deputy publicist Foster Benjamin the court heard that the convict Evance committed the crime on March 8 2021 at Njirayamalimba Village in Traditional Authority Masumbankhunda. Benjamin said the convict demanded sex from his wife who had a newly born baby.

Two men handed 12 years jail sentence for raping, robbing Mk5000 from a woman

Uncategorized The Lilongwe Chief Resident Magistrate’s Court has sentenced two men each to 12 years in prison for robbing a 26-year old woman K5000 cash before they raped her. The two, Frank James Mdyomba and Rodgers Namadenga Satana, were convicted on their own plea on Tuesday. The court, through State Prosecutor Bauleni Namasani, heard that the duo were among five thugs that attacked the victim on the night of 16 October last year between Sana Mega Shop and Lizulu Market in Area 4 within the city. The victim was on her way from her workplace when the pair attacked and robbed her.
