The Kennebec Estuary Land Trust (KELT) invites the public on Saturday, April 24 at 1 p.m. to join Springtime Splendor for Amphibians: Vernal Pools of Lilly Pond. The workshop will be held at the amphibian haven, Lilly Pond Community Forest in south Bath. Led by Cheri Brunault, Stewardship Consultant, participants will explore the basics of what makes a vernal pool and discover the interesting critters that make these important seasonal habitats their home.

The pandemic hasn’t been unable to shut down Maine’s great outdoors.
So as long as there is snow on the ground and temperatures cold enough to freeze water, you’ll be able to find something to do in the next couple of months. Not every winter outdoor recreation business is open, and some might have restrictions on crowd sizes or other safety guidelines. But there are certainly opportunities for you to ice skate, snowshoe, cross-country ski, ride a fat-tire bike, slide down a hill on an inner tube, or just take a walk in the wintry woods or along the frosty coastline.

Hills to Sea Trail Coalition, of Unity, is one of 18 Maine nonprofit organizations sharing in $206,000 worth of grants through the Conservation for All program within Maine Community Foundation.
Hills will use its $10,000 share for general operations to maintain programs, volunteers, part-time staff person and improvements to the Hills to Sea Trail.
Launched last year, the Conservation for All grant program provides general support grants to organizations and projects that build strong connections between people in Maine and our land and water.
