CTM 2021: Isabel Lewis & Loraine James – Fascinated By
A remote collaboration that took place as part of CTM Festival’s 2021 online edition.
Fascinated By is a new work from Hyperdub artist Loraine James and Dominican choreographer and dancer Isabel Lewis. In the remote collaboration, James soundtracks a “choreographed dreamy landscape” that takes place across three single-take vignettes, a segment of which is presented above.
Commissioned by Berlin’s CTM Festival for its 2021 online edition, the work sees James perform remotely at London’s Gaff Club, appearing via video monitors in Berlin’s Betonhalle venue at Silent Green, where stark lighting augments Lewis’s choreography.
CTM 2021: Born in Flamez ft Muxxxe, Lilly Pfalzer & Rebecca Pokua Korang – Body Politics
An exploration of gender, transformation, physical expression and censorship against the backdrop of rising authoritarianism.
In Body Politics, originally shown as part of CTM Festival 2021’s online programme, Berlin’s Born in Flamez and dancers Lilly Pfalzer and Rebecca Pokua Korang collaborate with masked Mexican performer Muxxxe in a piece that makes use of voice, bodies, electronics and plastic waste.
Body Politics sees the artists explore ideas of gender, transformation, physical expression, the body and censorship against the backdrop of the current global rise in authoritarianism.
