houston, more than 200 miles southwest, harvey made landfall around rockport, texas, with wins topping out at 130 miles an hour. this was the early stages of this whole thing as we watch it slam into the coast. texas congressman breaks aaron hold her presents the living along the coastline and joins us tonight from corpus christi. we saw you over the weekend soaked to the bone in the middle of all of this. how are you doing there today and what can you tell us about your folks there? well, i tell you, some of the towns on the outskirts of corpus christi like rockport and porter porter ranch is our just devastated. you know, a lot of people look on the news and they go, oh, they worked out the worst possible scene to show on the news. i can tell you, pretty much all of rockport is the worst possible scene. i was just there with the governor, everywhere you turn there was just destroyed building after destroyed building. martha: what is your
it s been under voluntary evacuation. it s a ghost town as the wind is whipping through. it s been strong enough to cause minor damage to buildings. we ve seen signs come off but trees still standing and no major structural damage. the question is what we ll see in the morning. that s where the strong side of the storm and the wall hit like rockport. we re hearing now anecdotal reports from people s relatives in the area about widespread destruction of buildings like the fire house and high school and things like that. over the next few hours we re likely to see the start of search and rescue. a lot of people did not heed the mandatory evacuation orders could be in big trouble in the small towns isolated by water, one way in and one way out. some of those roads now flooded
