now it s great there s a low clouds we have light rain falling. it s windy too in spots. look at this picture. if you haven t looked outside maybe your cozy on the couch. we are looking at just a dismal type day. that s going to impact some airlines as we go throughout the next hours. when we look at satellite radar. reseason heavy rain falling in portions of the northeast, great lakes, ohio valley. into the mid-atlantic. we could see some strong thunderstorms as we go throughout this afternoon. even seeing some blue on the map. here that s where snow is falling. northwest we re looking at snowfall we ll talk more about that storm system because that s going to make its way across the country. that will impact the next several days. right now, we are looking at that heavy rain falling. especially where you see those brighter colors and yellows the reds the oranges. that s where heavy rain is following. so we re seeing that through the great lakes new england upstate new york into the n
have been raging over the last week here in south west france. actually, though, some good news overnight. what the authorities are saying is that the fire has made very little progress. and i don t know if you can see, you probably can t, but there is a little bit of light rain falling now. and i m told as well there was a little bit of rain as well overnight. not a lot. but of course, that is helpful, much more helpful to the firefighters than those soaring temperatures that we had on monday, where you had temperatures of over a0 degrees, quite a lot of changeable winds as well, which really made for a huge struggle. we saw 16,000 people evacuated on that day alone. since then, temperatures have started to drop but, you know, the fire is not out. i mean, it s very smoky here. and just in that direction is towards the fire, and i can see itjust gets smokier and smokier the further in that you would go. we re just on the outer edge of the perimeter where people journalists and local
hawaii. there hasn t been a blizzard warning there since 2018. that is pretty unusual. a lot of moisture, cold air aloft, that s a recipe for snow at some of those higher elevations. the blizzard warning in effect until tomorrow, up to a foot of snow with winds as high as 100 miles per hour. moisture source producing snow at higher elevations is also producing a flood threat across a good part of the hawaiian islands. they re bracing the potential for flooding. and you see light rain falling now. the lower 48 the flakes are starting to fly from montana and back to north dakota. a blizzard warning for the extreme northeastern portion of minnesota through tomorrow. otherwise winter storm warnings in effect in the pink. the purple areas are winter weather advisories. phil, we could be seeing snow as much of a foot or more along with wind gusts of 50 miles an hour in these dark purple shaded
conditions if you can believe this or not, have actually started to improve. so this morning we just had torrential downpours. as i was reading into work this morning i actually encountered a lot of ponding on the roadways. that allowed for a messy commute for a lot of drivers this morning. i ll step out of the way so you can see what we re dealing with right now. taking a look behind me you can see there is a light rain falling here in manhattan. that s good news. we re still under this flash flood watch until 6:00 p.m. so i just want to make sure everyone is still aware in the northeast that although the rain is starting to lighten up, that s just a precursor of what s to come. more rain is on the way. we ll have a couple of rounds of rain. you can see the folks behind me they have their rain gear and that s what you will need. this morning it was chilly. now the good news is we re in the 60s. it is not so bad. it is starting to warm up a
rising through the course of this weekend. the milder air begins to push in overnight across parts of the southwest, along with that a lot of cloud, some mist and fog patches, the odds bit of rain as well. the clearest skies across northwest england. this is where we will see the lowest temperatures, cold enough for some patches of frost in the countryside as we start saturday morning. so saturday. generally quite a cloudy start for many of us. there could be an odd spit of light rain falling from this cloud as it works its way northwards. brighter weather for scotland for much of the day and we should see some sunshine working into southwest england, wales and the midlands through the course of the day as well. temperatures milder across england, wales and to a degree in northern ireland. 15, 16 degrees pretty widespread. but relatively cool in scotland, 10 to 12 here.
