Right now there say large area around the statue that is sectioned off and police are here now watching over this area. Look at video this is what it looked like earlier this morning after a man got out of the car and spray painted the words black power on the statue. They tell us there are many witnesses and they got a good description of the car and license plate and they expect to catch up with this person and file vandalism and criminal mischief charges today. He also painted another message on the ground. There is controversy of late over the statue and some acorps the former mayor rizzo of racism and some called for the statue to be taken down. Earlier in the week, eggs had been thrown at the statue and folks out here are questioning how this new vandalism could happen, considering there had been a Large Police Presence and barricades around the statue earlier in the day. Winter tor museum. Wonderful. Well it is exciting to be here today. This really grew from just an idea that lisa had to maybe just do a little talk on flag day and then we realized that in fact there were three flags being stored here and one in the collection of the museum of the American Revolution two that are the property of an anonymous, very generous owner and lender who has consented to have them on display for this afternoon. So this is an extraordinary opportunity. Im not sure there is anywhere else on the planet why you can stand in the room and be in the presence of three banners of liberty from the American Revolution. So congratulations to all of you for not going to the beach this weekend or not mowing the grass in the hot weather and choosing to come and sit in the dark with me for about np hour.
