This meant there had not been enough time to complete a mandatory ‘InterRAI’ assessment of Mrs B. This assessed the needs in her care. Deputy Health and Disability Commissioner Rose Wall today
released a report finding an aged care provider in breach of
the Code of Health and Disability Services Consumers’
Rights (the Code) for failures in its care of an elderly
woman.
The woman, aged in her nineties at the time of
these events, had a number of health issues including
recurrent pneumonia, leukaemia, Parkinson’s disease and a
sacral pressure injury. She required full assistance with
daily living activities.
Until her death, she was a
permanent resident at Waiapu House Lifecare (WHL) run by
