Sabatini introduces bill to eliminate hospital taxing district

Sabatini introduces bill to eliminate hospital taxing district LEESBURG  State Rep. Anthony Sabatini has filed a bill for the 2021 legislative session that would eliminate the North Lake County Hospital District.  The taxing district, which spans from Howey-in-the-Hills to Lady Lake, levies an annual tax on homeowners to help hospitals pay for the care of uninsured patients. Currently, homeowners in the district pay on average $150 a year.  Most of the $10 million collected annually goes to UF Health Leesburg and AdventHealth Waterman.  It s about corporate welfare and cutting taxes and giving people financial relief during a pandemic if we can, said Sabatini, R-Howey-in-the-Hills.
