In response to an article that criticized the nuclear ban treaty, a group of activists argue that a process to abolish nuclear weapons is vital to world safety. From scholarly analyses to known close calls and near misses, they argue, the message is clear: The world has avoided nuclear war only through luck.
For the past week, the migration of Barnacle Geese, or valkoposkihanhet in Finnish, has experienced a noticeable delay. Inclement weather, characterized by strong headwinds and rains, has kept the geese grounded in the fields of Southern, Southeastern, and Eastern Finland. However, predictions suggest that the migration will likely conclude by the upcoming weekend.
The geese migration barely progressed during the last seven days.
The migration of the white-fronted geese is currently underway in Finland, as reported by the Finnish Meteorological Institute. The past week has seen an influx of these geese, with the largest group of 20,000 birds spotted in Parikkala Island. The numbers of migrating birds have been relatively small so far, with the highest count being less than 5,000 at any given location. The birds are expected to continue their migration in the coming days.
Finland may see 25C heat next week
Temperatures in Finland will start rising on Monday, potentially reaching 25 degrees Celsius by Wednesday and Thursday.
Recent chilly weather has delayed the return of some migratory birds. BirdLife Finland says cool conditions have slowed the migration of insect-eating birds, in particular.

Next week, Finland will leave recent chilly conditions behind. By midweek, thermometers could reach Finland’s elusive 25-degree-Celsius heat threshold, according to Yle meteorologist
Matti Huutonen. Let’s say we’ll at least get close to 25 degrees and may even surpass it, Huutonen said
While Monday’s conditions won’t differ much from Sunday’s, Huutonen said southern areas will already experience signs of the weather turning, as the mercury could rise to 20C in some parts.
